Quote of the Day

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) defending the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and other Christian denominations in their support of same-sex marriage:

“In this country the government doesn’t get to tell you or your organization what your religious views are – and they could well be minority views – but the Bill of Rights is designed to protect the minority from the will of the majority,” McConnell said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Actually he was talking about the Catholics and their whining about the now-moot point of the Obama administration following the lead of 28 other states in requiring contraceptive services by employers. But he is making the same point about marriage equality: it’s not up to the government to tell people what to do based on theocracy.
