Question of the Day

Taking my lead from NPR and The New Yorker:

If you could eliminate a single word from the English language — just zap it, nuke it, prevent it from ever being used again — what would it be?

I don’t think they were going for a word because of its meaning, like racist epithets or over-use, but just the sound or texture of the word. Therefore I get why “phlegm” is on the list, but what’s wrong with “moist”? It makes me think of brownies.

Anyway, what’s your choice for banishment?
