Travel Day

Hey, kids, what time is it? It’s Inge Festival time!

That’s right; I’m off this morning to the heartland for my annual visit to Independence, Kansas for the 31st annual William Inge Theatre Festival. This year marks my 21st trip to the festival; my first was in 1991 when we honored Edward Albee. This year the honoree is David Henry Hwang, the author of M. Butterfly and a lot of other works, including opera librettos and films.

This also means that blogging will be light and theatre-centric for the next five days or so; there’s a lot that goes on in such a small town. I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of friends that I’ve made over the decades — yes, I was in my 30’s when I started going — and making new ones.

My journey takes me from Miami to Dallas to Tulsa, so if you see me in any of those airports, say hi.
