Teachable Moment

The good people of Poland are understandably sensitive to how their country is portrayed in World War II, especially when it comes to references to the death camps that were established there by the Nazis. So when President Obama referred to “Polish death camps” yesterday at the Medal of Freedom ceremony, the Polish government was not happy about it. The White House has since apologized.

Never missing an opportunity to pounce, the Orcosphere is all twitterpated about the gaffe, but as usual, they’re ignoring the fact that it’s not the first time someone has made the mistake, and as Steve M details, it includes a number of Republicans as well as the guardian of everything right, Fox News.

I think we all could use a little more awareness about that time in our history, and not just about what to call things.
