According to a friend on Facebook, gas is selling for $2.99 a gallon in Tallahassee. I paid $3.19 in Florida City on Saturday, and the prices I see on the way to the office up US 1 in South Miami and Coral Gables range from $3.34 to $3.69. That’s a big drop from the $4.15 we were seeing in March, and there are predictions that it will be down to $2.50 by November.
So I guess we should all thank President Obama. After all, the right-wingers were all blaming the high gas prices on him last winter, so it’s only natural to think that he actually did something to bring the prices back down. Ah, but I know what you’re thinking… it’s a plot to win the election. The president artificially raised prices last winter only so he could drop them in the summer and have them reach the level that Newt Gingrich (remember him? He’s the GOP nominee) promised last February.
Now all we have to do is prove that Barack Obama is in league with Big Oil and Iran to manipulate the world oil market and take advantage of the slumping economy in Europe to undercut the price of a barrel of oil. Let’s get Darrell Issa on it; he loves a wacky conspiracy theory. Cheaper gas is an assault on the Second Amendment, right?
Meanwhile, what are you paying at the pump?
