Flame Out

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) tried running for the GOP presidential nomination, and when that failed, he filed to run for re-election. He didn’t qualify for the primary, in part because his campaign turned in a whole bunch of fraudulent signatures (I know; irony lives), and has now resigned from office effective immediately by issuing a statement that is poetic, metaphoric, and just plain weird:

Thus, acutely aware one cannot rebuild their hearth of home amongst the ruins of their U.S. House office, for the sake of my loved ones I must ‘strike another match, go start anew’ by embracing the promotion back from public servant to sovereign citizen.

The Maddow Blog is holding a challenge for brave souls to diagram that sentence. Be my guest.
