Slow Starting

I have a feeling it’s going to be a slow start to the day here and at work. A lot of people are taking the whole week off, and those of us that are heading in to the office may encounter some folks who are a little burned out from yesterday’s celebrations. (In my case, it happened literally; I went to a car show yesterday, and even with sunscreen got a bit fried.) Then last night the City of Coral Gables and a bunch of corporate sponsors got together to bring back the fireworks to the Biltmore Hotel golf course. I went with Bob and The Old Professor, getting there early enough to get a parking space within walking distance.

It started with a band concert for two hours — a great performance by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band — and then about twenty minutes of really big fireworks in the night sky. Thanks to our friends Genessa and Thom (who was also in the band), we had a great picnic dinner. I got home early enough (around 10) to get a decent amount of sleep.

I have a feeling it will be a quiet day at the office, but every time I say that it turns into a rodeo, so we’ll see.

So, how was your holiday — if you had one?
