Up A Creek

Mitt Romney gave five TV interviews yesterday afternoon, four of them to networks he has barely acknowledged exist since he started his run for the presidency: ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN. All of them were basically the same interview: he denied that he had anything to do with Bain Capital after February 1999, and he demanded an apology from the Obama campaign for pointing out that he had signed documents stating that he was basically the sole owner of the company until 2002.

When you have to explain something, you’re in trouble. And when you’re demanding an apology from someone who pointed out what’s in the public record, you’re whining. These are not the tactics of a winning campaign, and the higher and mightier you get, the more desperate you sound.
