Grey Friday

I am going to go shopping… for tires for the Mustang and some grapefruit juice for breakfast.  Other than that, I’m not venturing out.  It’s been years since I’ve joined the hordes at the mall for Christmas shopping.

What about you?

8 barks and woofs on “Grey Friday

  1. Looking to buy a small tarp and a cheap blanket for the back seat of my car. I have to transport my girlfriend’s mangy, smelly dogs from Rutledge to Rochester and I don’t want the smell to get into the upholstery.

  2. I am not shopping today and I sure as h*** didn’t shop LAST NIGHT. I appreciate the fact that grocery stores are open at least a few hours on Thanksgiving in case people forget stuff (like a pan to roast the turkey in, which happened to us one year), but I’m offended by how “Black Friday” is starting to become “Black Thursday Evening.” Although on the news today I didn hear the shopping was relatively civilized, partly because some stores handed out tickets for highly-sought items to people standing in line. Thus endeth the rant.

    • Actually no – the rant ran on. A man pulled a gun on a line buster, fights broke out over the cellphones in one store and another couple was hurt in a crash in a Walmart parking lot by a drunk who was headed in to do a bit of shopping. Does this say something about our culture and times? If you don’t own something or other or your kids don’t you’re unworthy? Heaven help us. And these people vote . . .

  3. I agree with Alan C re: grocery stores open on T-day. However, I do not shop on T-day or black friday. Today, I am catching up on grading at work and listening to NPR.

  4. I don’t like shopping at any time, much less will I go today. My eldest and I went to see Lincoln last night at the movies, and it was just great. I don’t want to ruin a great Thanksgiving with a huge crowded store, thanks anyway!

    • Foolish us, Lark. We went to see “Lincoln” and found no place within the vast lot to park so we gave up, went marketing and returned home to try another day. What were we thinking?

  5. A friend brought this gem to my attention thought I would share…why is it ok to camp outside for black Friday but not to support #OWS
