Winter arrived in the Northern Hemisphere at 6:12 a.m. ET.
That means that today is the day with the shortest amount of daylight north of the Equator. But it also means that the days will start getting longer, and if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, its the start of summer.

Well, I hope the world doesn’t end! I am so glad the days will get longer, not shorter. These dark, cold days in Ohio are depressing.
I lived in Ohio for 54 yrs. and when the sun went down the end of Sept. I was sad until next April. The sun is shining brightly here in deep s. Tx. right now.
Lucky you!
And up here the sun finally came out! It makes the 7° temp and 2′ drifts (almost) bearable.
