A Little Night Music

Something soothing for a Sunday night…

2 barks and woofs on “A Little Night Music

  1. Ah, “Laura”… I played this once at a short-lived job at a “beautiful music” station back in the 70s. As I recall, it was the last record I played there…

  2. People listen to Spike Jones to this day, and I bet a number of them — especially the younger listeners — don’t grasp just how talented his musicians were. Both orchestras — the original that we hear above, and “Spike Jones and the ‘Other’ Orchestra” were among the finest musicians in the land. Simply consider how much work went into making sure the cow bells, car horns, and assorted sound effects were not only appropriate for the moment, but also in key.

Keeping Jones’ music alive for newer generations goes a long way towards forgiving Dr Demento for bringing back Benny Bell’s “Shaving Cream.”
