Question of the Day

‘Tis the season for holiday movies.  Everyone has their favorite; I know at least one person in my family who blubs up over It’s A Wonderful Life, and many who adore Ralphie and A Christmas Story.  Fine; we’ll get to those later.  But via the Globe and Mail, here’s their picks of the seven worst holiday films of all time.  I can’t argue with any of their selections.  Now it’s your turn.

What’s the worst holiday movie of all time?

6 barks and woofs on “Question of the Day

  1. The woman foolish enough to marry me has gone on a bender of ‘heart-warming’ sludge on the Hallmark Channel and similar. Bad acting, crappy scripts, cliche stories with obvious outcomes and no particular enjoyment to be had in the journey. They all blend together into a giant ball of mucus, it is impossible to pick a worst one so the whole damn lineup!

  2. The Jim Carrey remake of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. It was an abomination, and a completely unecessary one at that.

And I actually liked “The Ref” (number 3 on the list). But then my heart is a shriveled black lump of coal!

  3. I’m torn between Scrooged (Bill Murray occasionally rubs me WRONG – and that was one instance) and Jingle All the Way (do we really need to glorify rank consumerism?) for commercial releases, and I’ve seen more than my share of the various Reichwing retellings of the original story.

I’m stocking up on insulin and Pepto until the whole War Of Christmas is over.

@Schlemizel: It could be worse. At least she’s not watching TBN.

  4. That’s as good a list as any. I’ve seen two of them: I actually kind of enjoyed Jingle All the Way. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians must be seen to be believed. Pia Zadora actually plays a Martian child. I thought Santa Claus: the Movie (with John Lithgow and Dudley Moore) was pretty awful too.
