On This Date

December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers made the first powered flight.


To put it in perspective, my grandmother was born nine months before this flight.  By the end of her life she had flown around the world and taken a tour of the internet courtesy of my brother’s laptop.

That’s not only a testimony to a long and full life, but the fact that we went from horse and buggy to the moon in a life span.

For all the tragic flaws we inflict upon ourselves and others, there is something amazing in the human spirit.

    • Airline service wasn’t too bad until it was deregulated. Between deregulation and the general degradation of our society, airline travel now resembles cattle transport. As you can tell, I don’t generally fly first class and private charter was a one time thing as a guest. 🙂

  1. It’s true that mankind made huge leaps in technology, medical science and communication. It’s also true, sad to say, that not much has changed ethically, morally or in our treatment of our fellow man. Perhaps in the next century we’ll figure it out.
