One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people’s faith, one cannot make fun of faith. There is a limit. Every religion has its dignity … in freedom of expression there are limits.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, and really wrong, dude.
It’s a good thing he’s just some guy in a long white dress and not a Supreme Court justice.
What’s more worthy of a giggle than religion? These guys should learn to laugh. At themselves . . . .
Yep, the Pope is not infallible on this one.
Allow me to defend his, the guy in the long white dress, right to be wrong. It’s his job to defend the perceived dignity of the church and to cloak himself in robes of defending all religion. The irony is he and his fervent believers provoke and insult my beliefs every time they proclaim Jesus Christ as the son of G-D and savior of the faithful, or that unless one accepts JC as savior you will not go to heaven. On the other hand, I love how in the middle of mass everything stops so the priest can serve snacks; we Jews have to wait till the service is over before lunch is served.
I’ll forgive the Vatican for this kind of statement. It is the Vatican’s job to treat faith as something serious. So Pope Francis can get away with it.
If it came from Bill Donohue, though,… not so much.
