So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
The quote could almost be a metaphor for the reichwing, except they’re paddling as hard as they can to go WITH the current back into the past.
I think about it in terms of my own writing, which spends a great deal of time trying to come to terms with the past.
