It looks for now like this storm will be a close call for the west coast of Florida, but Miami is barely outside of the cone.

They call the yellow lines “the cone of uncertainty,” meaning the storm could go anywhere between them.  Just because it isn’t a hurricane yet doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous; people have already been killed in landslides on the island of Dominica in the Leeward Islands, and the heavy rains could create havoc on Puerto Rico.
