Speaker Paul Ryan finally made it official:
I’m voting for Trump.
He announced it in an op-ed column in the Janesville Gazette, his hometown paper. I’m sure it’s a very respectable paper, but it’s not exactly the national paper of record. It’s like he’s trying to keep it on the downlow.
He also rationalized his decision by saying that electing a Republican president, he would be able to get his House agenda signed into law. He doesn’t care who is elected as long as it’s good for his political future. He’s looking beyond 2016 and laying the groundwork for a run against Hillary Clinton in 2020.
