From 1975 to 1977 I lived in a HUD-subsidized apartment building in Minneapolis. The rent was remarkably low; I think it was $300 a month for a two-bedroom that I shared with a classmate while we were in grad school.
Not only was it a nice place, apparently that stint qualifies me to be the Secretary of HUD.
This appointment of Carson isn’t funny. He’s an islamophobe who thinks Islam isn’t a real religion and is a threat to the security of the USA. He also thinks homosexuality is a life-style, a choice. He thinks any sort of government subsidy only encourages dependency in spite of the fact his mother subsisted on food stamps and housing assistance. He joins the rest of the far-right spooks around the cabinet table. We have a rocky, scary couple of years ahead. Even if by chance Trump is impeached, highly unlikely, his vice-president is one of that gang, too.
