Here in South Florida we’ve been under a flood, tornado, and tropical storm watch since yesterday afternoon. Early this morning (1:06 a.m. according to my clock/radio) we had a rattling good thunderstorm. When I drove in to the office at 6:45 a.m. it was cloudy and windy, but no rain. We’re still keeping an eye on the storm, but it seems to have shifted a little to the west. It skipped by Key West and so far things are okay here in Miami-Dade.
Not so for our friends over in the Tampa-St. Pete area: they’re in the track to get nailed. I hope they’ve taken all the right precautions and that they are safe.
In true literary coincidence, there’s the story of Hurricane Donna hitting Long Island in September 1960 in John Steinbeck’s Travels With Charley.
