Martha Stewart will be spending her time in the Rebar Hotel in West Virginia.
She had requested the Club Fed in either Danbury, Connecticut, so she could be close to home. Why? Was she expecting to get furloughed on football weekends at Choate? Her other choice was the joint in Coleman, Florida; no doubt so she could help people redecorate after the hurricanes. But she’s going to be at the minimum security prison in Alderson, W.V.
West Virginia is a beautiful state – it has the grandeur of the Appalachians, and the people are hard-working and unpretentious. Maybe the message for Martha is that by getting out of the stratosphere of the Merritt Parkway, she’ll learn something about humility versus hubris – and that’s a good thing.
