Of Ficus Trees and Powerlines

So far we’ve had two feeder bands come through. In my neighborhood it’s been no more than what we get from a good summer thunderstorm, but in Kendall and South Miami, south of here, the TV stations are carrying stories about power outages and uprooted ficus trees. The 5 p.m. update shows the path of Hurricane Frances still heading on the predicted path of northwest and dodging Miami-Dade County. The Hurricane Warning is still in place; it will be there until Frances actually makes landfall, probably tomorrow afternoon.

Once it crosses the shore, it should lose strength but still pack a wallop. Upstate bloggers are keeping track as to where it’s heading next; check them out.
