Job Security

I’ve worked with people who have been complete screw-ups at their assigned tasks yet keep their job or even get promoted. It’s either a result of the Peter Principle, which states that in a corporate structure most people rise to the level of their incompetence, or they have something – contacts, connections, or the EEOE – on the people in power and therefore have a secure position as long as they’re willing to hold that cudgel over their boss’s head.

I wonder how that works for Donald Rumsfeld.
