Still Time to Sign Up

DK at A Silent Cacophony reports that the Department of Defense is making plans to raise the maximum recruiting age from 35 to 42.

There is very little argument that many people in reasonable physical shape can carry out the physical duties required of service members at the age of 42. The reason for age limits in the first place has been to ensure that in fairness, someone who enlists will reasonably have the opportunity to serve until retirement eligibility, which is a minimum of 20 years of active duty service at present.

It also means you brave men and women of the 101st Fighting Keyboardists can now fulfill your destiny and dreams of putting your money where your big fat mouths are and join up! By golly, if I were ten years younger…I’d still be a Conscientious Objector.
