From the New York Times:
President Bush said today that he accepted responsibility for the extent to which the federal government fell short in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
Actually, the president has already accepted responsibility. He’s done it twice now. It happened when he said,
I, George Walker Bush, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.
That’s when it happens. The fact that it’s a stop-the-presses moment now is just an indication of the extent to which Mr. Bush has distanced himself from the reality-based community.
