On This Date

February 10, 1903: my maternal grandmother was born. She was a lady of infinite charm and grace, who always knew the right thing to say to her grandchildren and shared her love of music, art, and travel with us. Ninety-five years was too short a time for her; she still had things she wanted to do, but she lived long enough to go from a riding to school in a horse-drawn cart to learning how to surf the Internet. She may have had her struggles — like we all do — but she always handled herself with aplomb, and I miss her to this day.
