Enough Already

It’s been raining here in South Florida for the last three days, and some parts of town got over five inches of rain on Monday. Flood warnings were up until midnight, and the good news is that today we’re supposed to get a short break with a 50% chance of scattered showers.

The irony is that most of the rain has fallen south of Lake Okeechobee, which is still four feet below normal and which supplies the Everglades, and in spite of all this rain, we’re still technically in a drought: you can’t overcome two years of that with a couple of days of rain. Of course, it beats having a hurricane. So far so good on that score. And my orchids are loving it.
