Short Takes

– I’d forgotten how fast people walk in New York. That’s a great way to get exercise.

– The show last night went even better than opening night; the actors seemed to hit their groove, the pace was quicker, and it just felt more together. (Not that I have complaints about opening night.) I continue to be amazed at what they’re bringing out in the characters and how far they’ve taken them beyond what I imagined when I wrote them. (PS: the show is sold out for tonight.)

– The blogs and the papers are all over the continuing saga of Clinton vs. Obama as the South Carolina Democratic primary gets underway today. Talking about the real issues is so last year, so the punditocracy is focusing on things that really matter, like how much influence Bill Clinton will have on a Hillary Clinton presidency. I can’t believe that this is just occurring to them now. Maybe I missed something, but as far as I can tell, that was a given from the start. That said, it doesn’t elevate the level of discourse in the campaign, and I think all sides need to take a deep breath and calm down. Yeah, right; we have ten days to go before SuperAmazing Tuesday. Not much chance of that.
