Annals in Irony

Today’s howler: listening to Karl Rove on ABC criticizing Barack Obama for not having enough experience to be president in spite of the fact that Mr. Rove made his bones by launching the career of George W. Bush from lazy-ass frat boy to president.

It is funny watching him squirm under the question of what responsibility he bears for the railroading of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman (a Democrat) and completely fucking up the Republican brand. Short answer: let’s not look at the past because I am completely incapable of taking responsibility for anything that I’ve ever done. So there.

Reading between the lines, I think Mr. Rove is scared shitless that the GOP is going to get wiped off the map in November, that he’s going to get blamed for it, and at some point he’s going to pay for it. As well he should.

Unless, of course, he gets pardoned by Bush on the morning of January 20, 2009. I wouldn’t put that past him, either.
