As the Faithful Correspondent noted in the comments below, our family has a connection to the Kennedy family. My father’s sister-in-law comes from Brookline, and her father was a business associate of Joseph P. Kennedy. My aunt worked on all of the Kennedy campaigns, including JFK’s and Bobby’s runs for the presidency. Teddy gave a toast at their wedding, and I have a PT-109 tie clip from the 1960 campaign that my aunt gave me. So there’s something more than just the usual pain you get when you hear that someone you respect and admire has a serious illness. I feel not only for him and his family, but for his extended family and friends as well, and that includes my dear aunt who has seen so much sorrow in a family that has been a part of her life since she was a child.
My thoughts and best wishes go to the Kennedy family, but they also go to the rest of us who feel, in some small way, as if we’re connected to that family as well.
