Tropical Update

Tropical Storm Fay made landfall near Naples early today and will probably not reach hurricane strength as it crosses the Florida peninsula. But 60 mph winds are still possible, as is widespread flooding.

The only possible good news that could come from this is that it could have been worse, and that Lake Okeechobee will get back up to its normal level, reducing the level of drought in South Florida. But that’s small comfort to those who were hurt by the storm.
