Worth Watching

If you’re a theatre person and you’re familiar with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada, go find the DVD’s for the series Slings & Arrows. It ran on Canadian TV a couple of years ago (and later on Sundance in the U.S.) and it’s about life backstage at a well-known Canadian theatre festival in a small town in Ontario. A lot of the actors in the series have been actors at Stratford, including Paul Gross (whom you might remember from Due South), Martha Burns, and Stephen Ouimette.

But even if you know nothing about theatre or Stratford, go get them anyway.

Here’s the trailer for Season One:

I’m halfway through Season 3, which has the late William Hutt playing an aging actor coming out of retirement to play King Lear.
