No Governor Left Behind

Gov. Sarah Palin has an interesting view of the duties of the vice president.

[T]hey’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes…

Maybe in Dick Cheney’s wildest dreams, but not in the United States Constitution:

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided.

“Shaking things up” in Washington is one thing; rewriting the Constitution is something else entirely.

On the other hand, she really is a walking ad for increasing funding for secondary education, especially in Social Studies.

By the way, WLRN here in Miami is having its fall fund-raiser, and one of the premiums they’re giving away when you pledge is a pocket version of the Constitution. I might just add to my pledge so I can get one and send it on to Gov. Palin.
