Obama in Cincinnati

My niece, who lives in Cincinnati (and who has a small business making and selling amazing pottery), went to see Barack Obama when he came to town. Here’s what she saw and had to share.

I went to see Obama at a rally in beautiful Ault Park… it was an interesting day, regardless of your choice for pres… it was a cool thing to be a part of…

I got to Hyde Park about 12:00, hoofed it up and down hills to the big park driveway, made a friend. We waited in line for about an hour, got through security and got “herded” into an area no clue how far away, but not that far away from the stage. We sat in the sun with 400 billion of our closest friends… until about 2:00. Then there was the pre-show or warm-up acts… people running for something… and a poor lady who has no job now that a Ford plant closed…. blah blah blah… (at this point people were passing out! for real) then [Ohio Governor] Ted Strickland blabbed and then FINALLY at about 3:45-ish Barack came out… he talked for maybe an hour… maybe less… he is handsome… looks like he does on TV. The energy was fun to be around…

What I “heard” or took from his talk, was that the government will go half in and we have to meet our half… (this is my own interpretation). They give access to better health care, we take better care of ourselves. They give us better school options, parents have to “turn off the TV”. I wish he could go more into that and say something like… and make them go to school and respect their elders…etc… but anyway. He wants to make sure we are all voting… (sort of felt like he was preaching to the choir, because if we were there we were likely to vote and vote for him…) But that’s what a rally is I suppose…

A great experience, I’m glad I went… I think he will put a little respect back in the White House… Make it so people are not embarrassed by our President… Wouldn’t that be nice?

We don’t want Joe Idiot, people “just like us” in charge, (we didn’t go into government for our careers, I don’t know as much as he does about all of this and neither do the people I surround myself with… We aren’t dumb…) I don’t insist on flying the plane, and I don’t expect to have a pilot make a vase or platter…

I want someone who has the greater good in mind… Because if we continue to ignore everything that is wrong and screwing a majority of the population, eventually the people at the top will be sucked down with us poor folk.

I hope I haven’t lost you… We all have to look out for our neighbors as we hope they would look out for us. Support small business instead of Walmart and Lowes if you can… that keeps people in your town employed. The closer you are to a store the less you have to drive, thus saving you money on gas, therefore balancing out the slightly higher price you may have to pay at the smaller store.

It was great to see people of all groups together, we all said a prayer to our respective gods… it was very nice.
