On the Road

Good morning from Tampa, or more specifically, from Ybor City, where I’m visiting Boatboy and helping him move his mom into her new living quarters. We had a nice dinner last night at Streetcar Charlie’s, (crusted tuna for me, cedar-planked salmon for Boatboy), then a short walk to The Bunker coffeehouse for espresso and strudel, then home to watch Prince Caspian on DVD.

The trip over was uneventful in the Pontiac, which got 25 mpg; not bad for a 21-year-old station wagon with a V-6. I think it’s the the first road trip I’ve had it on in years, but it loafed along at 70 mph like it had been doing it all its life.

I’m also getting reacquainted with Harlequin, Boatboy’s cat. Harley remembered me from the last couple of visits and greeted me with a leg-rub and used my legs as the balcony seating for last night’s movie viewing. He is ever-curious about what I am doing, such as writing or just reading, and he likes to bat at my hands to give him the requisite skritch on the head or ears. He knows I’m good for it.

So that’s where I am today. Blogging will be light and variable until I get home.
