Question of the Day

Pick a card…

Do you send holiday cards? A holiday letter?

I used to send Christmas cards, but I haven’t for about ten years now. I get them from a shrinking number of friends and family who keep up with my address changes, and I always send a thank-you note to the sender.

Most of the cards I get are nice and subtle notes of the season, sometimes with a family picture and a note. However, there is one card I always get from a friend from summers in Michigan that is the Las Vegas version of the Christmas card, letter, and photo album to beat the bejesus out of anything else. (My brother and my mom know which one of which I speak, for they get it, too.) I swear this guy must start working on it in January, bragging about this kid getting the Nobel Prize and that son winning more medals at the Olympics than Michael Phelps. And now that his BFF Barack Obama has won the election, I expect to see a podcast of my buddy holding the bible at the inauguration. One small problem: I don’t think I sent him a change-of-address form. Darn. But he’ll track me down…
