Happy New Year

Welcome to 2009.

Compared to last year, I spent a quiet evening at home watching That’s Entertainment! on TCM and indulging in a New Mexico-style New Year’s dinner of burritos with green chile sauce and salad. My neighbors continued the tradition of welcoming the new year with fireworks, sparklers, and, at one point, the climax from the 1812 Overture and the finale of The Guns of Navarone.

Today will be a quiet day of reading — I am thoroughly enjoying Christopher Plummer’s autobiography In Spite of Myself — and perhaps catching a football game or two.

Best wishes to you and yours for the New Year from us — me — here at BBWW.

4 barks and woofs on “Happy New Year

  1. Broiled artic char with a lime/chipotle marinade, buttered spinach and spicy puree of carrots for dinner (preceded by a deliciously cold martini)and accompanied by a nice-although-unassuming glass of sauvignon blanc. After doing the dishes, a bit of interfamily e-mailing about how quickly family history is forgotten never to be found again (when was that photograph taken?) and early to bed with Christopher Plummer. I stopped celebrating the midnight hour between years after 2000 rolled around to my amazement and delight. Nothing since could compare. Happy New Year to all!

  2. Happy New Year to you as well, Bobby! (Do I really have to login to the new JS-KIT profile for each and every comment, and then type in my name? What am I missing… brains? 🙂 )
