Short Takes

Last Presser — President Bush held his last press conference, and he plans to address the nation with a farewell speech Thursday night. I have other plans.

The Rest of the Dough — Congress will release the second half of the $700 billion bailout.

Penthouse Arrest — Bernard Madoff remains out on bail.

Burris is In — The Senate accepts Roland Burris’s paperwork and he’s on his way to Washington as Illinois’s junior senator.

Meek Running — Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-FL) tosses his hat into the ring for the Senate seat being vacated by Mel Martinez.

Cold — Blizzard warnings for Chicago and the Midwest, and it’s going to head east and south; they’re expecting temps to get to the -10’s up there and the mid-30’s in central Florida.

Dueling Banjos – Mike Huckabee says he is not pro-sodomy. This is the level of discourse when you have a conversation with Ann Coulter.
