Speak Up!

Okay, my brother has been working closely with the good folks at JS-Kit, who have paid attention to our concerns, and we pretty much think we have all the commenting issues taken care of. As of Saturday last, all the old comments have been imported and there is also a “Delete” button for you to use if you so desire. Logging in under HaloScan — the same way you did under the old system at the old template — is still available, and putting in your e-mail will import your Gravatar picture if you have one. You can also use your Facebook account, or Open ID, or you can remain Anonymous.

What I need, though, is to hear from you, dear Reader, and let me know what you think and how it’s working for you. So even if you’re out there lurking in the shadows, step up and drop a comment here and tell us. The folks at JS-Kit will be looking in to see how we — and they — are doing, so now’s your chance. As the button says, Speak!

16 barks and woofs on “Speak Up!

  1. I am not all that impressed with JS-kit. But, at least it’s working on your site. It never would work for me at Shakesville’s literary site.

  3. I like how it works, actually, now that I’m signed in. Looks like my gravatar is coming through. I really like the “add pictures” function.

  5. Hi Rook,

JS-Kit has native avatar support. You can upload a photo and it will automatically be resized into an avatar. Click on your name > manage avatar > upload avatar > save.

HaloScan originally supported Gravatar because the service did not have this capability built-in.

With that said, we are interested in providing as many useful options as possible and will add Gravatar support as a complimentary method of adding an avatar.

Readers may email me directly with other ideas or suggestions for improvements: khris [at] js-kit.com

  6. Hmmm.

I like the commenting platform, but I’m not sure about my Gravatar and name coming up right. Guess I’ll see when I click “Submit”. 🙂
