A couple of bloggers here in Miami have gotten their tails all puffed up over perceived libel and a threat to sue. Rick at SFDB has the details here.
Some of my fellow South Florida bloggers are making this out as a case of freedom of speech vs. censorship. That’s part of it, but what I find more telling and closer to home is that it’s just a big-mouthed bully shooting off his bazoo and trying to prove that he can intimidate someone with threats of legal action for what was clearly an attempt at humor and mockery.
The surest way to get a bully to back down is to call him out and laugh at him. They are all talk and nothing else, and behind the tough talk and threatening stance is the heart of a chicken. And the surest way to teach them a lesson is to stand up to them and let them know that they can cluck all they want, but they’ve got nothing to show for it.
So I stand with Random Pixels, not just because the empty threats of Babalu’s keeper are just that, but because bullies and their bellicosity need to be deflated and laughed off the stage.
