Question of the Day

The Old Professor once opined that the better the source material — i.e. novel or play — the worse the film or stage adaptation it becomes. True or not…

What’s the best example of a favorite book of yours turned into a film?

I’d have to say that I was rare pleased with the Peter Jackson version of The Lord of the Rings, even if he did leave out what I thought was an important and ironic part at the end of the last book. And so far the Harry Potter series has survived fairly well; I just wonder with the natural growth of the actors and the pace of the filming, Harry Potter will be a strapping twenty-something by the time he graduates from high school.
