Question of the Day

There’s a new Star Trek movie opening on Friday. It’s called simply Star Trek; they’re not going with “The Motion Picture” (did that in 1979) or any Roman numeral follow-ups. This is the “prequel” to the original TV series that aired on NBC from 1966 to 1969 and introduces us to Captain Kirk, Spock, Dr. McCoy, Scotty, and the rest of the cast as cadets at Star Fleet Academy. If it pays off, it could regenerate the franchise which has been in stasis since the end of “Enterprise” a few years ago, and guarantee that Chris Pine, the buff hottie playing Kirk, will be able to do Priceline ads in 2049. So…

Are you going to see Star Trek? How many of the previous films have you seen?

Yes, and all of them, although I’m not a full-tilt Trekkie/Trekker. I was (and still am) a LOTR nerd.
