I filled up this morning at the usual spot — the Marathon on the corner of SW 168th Street and Old Cutler Road — and paid $2.67 for unleaded regular (and got 20.15 mpg in mainly city driving last week). Up the road on US 1 in Coconut Grove, the Westar had it for $2.61, then three blocks later it was $2.67 at Mobil and $2.69 at Chevron.
Now that summer is here in South Florida and school is out I expect the traffic to be a lot lighter — Miami isn’t exactly a tourist destination for the rest of the country this time of year, although it is for folks from the Southern Hemisphere who are bundling up for winter in places like Buenos Aires and Santiago. Whatever the reason, gas prices always seem to go up during the summer months to take advantage of the vacationers with kids in the back of the
cross-over station wagon (call it what it really is, folks) and even a few RV’s and travel trailers trundling down to the Keys.
So, what’s gas going for in your part of the world, and are you planning on any long driving trips this summer?
