Question of the Day

What with the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing coming up on Monday, this question comes to mind:

What’s your favorite space movie?

I don’t necessarily mean a science fiction movie involving space, although that is a rich genre. Rather, I’m thinking of films like Apollo 13 or The Right Stuff; films that tell the story of space exploration and the people who got us there. I have a couple of favorites, and if you count mini-series, there’s From the Earth to the Moon produced for HBO by Tom Hanks. But I think my favorite is a little film from Australia called The Dish which tells the story of the men who manned the remote antenna that received the first TV signals of Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon. I recommend it highly.
