The new Harry Potter film opens today.
Are you planning to see it?
Probably. I’ve seen all the previous ones, more out of curiosity after having read all the books. So far the reviews are mainly positive, some going so far as to say it’s the best of the lot while others, including this hose from Kirk Baird, the critic at The Blade, find it dull and more of the same as the previous five. Based on the trailers and the comments of the critics, it’s turning into more an exploration of typical teenage longing and coming-of-age than it is about magic (which is probably why the Vatican paper gave it a nod). Frankly, I enjoy the supporting cast with the likes of Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, and Robbie Coltrane more than anything else. Without them it would be Hogwarts 90210.
