The First Bumper Sticker of 2012

You saw it here first.

SHE QUIT.

I think that pretty much sums up the campaign slogan for anyone else — Republican or Democrat — should Sarah Palin decide to run for president. So all this talk about her reviving her career and going off in a “new direction” is just bullshit. She’ll be really popular on the right-wing lecture circuit talking to people who agree with her, and she’ll probably land a gig on TV (my money’s on Fox), and she’ll keep saying daft — I’m sorry — “mavericky” things, but when it comes down to it, what we’re left with is that she either couldn’t handle the job of being the governor of Alaska or she got bored with it and decided to cash in on her fifteen minutes. Both of those should be deal-breakers for running for elective office. And if you thought that the 3 A.M. phone call was tough for Barack Obama, what does this scram act tell you about her?

What I find more interesting — and scarier — is that there are Republicans who think that having a president who flakes out on the job is fine with them. But considering who they thought was the greatest president of the 21st century, I’m not surprised.
