Off the Tracks

RNC Chair Michael Steele dropped his attempt to be hip on his website, replacing the cringe-inducing “What Up” with “Change the Game.” That’s a little better, but it’s still a bit of a head-scratcher; “change” is the Obama shtick, and it sounds like he sees the problems and policies of this country as just a game to be won or lost. So, one step forward, one step back.

On another matter, the Chairman seems to have trouble with his metaphors in discussing healthcare reform on Fox News:

HOST: Very quickly, Chairman Steele. The feeling in some circles is that this health care train has left the station with President at the wheel, and Republicans better jump on board.

STEELE: Well, I’m the cow on the tracks, and you’re going to have to stop that train to get this cow off the tracks and move forward.

I think Mr. Steele needs to learn a little bit about both physics and what actually happens when a train happens upon a cow on the tracks. It isn’t pretty.

Meanwhile, the RNC website continues to amuse. At one point they had a tribute to Ronaldus Magnus, who was either a Roman emperor or a McDonald’s clown in Swedish.

Our country has to decide, said Ronaldus Magnus, “whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether to abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives better than we can plan them ourselves.”

They’ve since taken down that reference, probably realizing that they were the ones who mocked Obama as the worshipful One.
