Back in September when Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) said that the Republicans’ healthcare plan was for people to “die quickly,” the GOP went into full fulmination mode. So when Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) said that the Democrats’ healthcare plan was for people to “die sooner,” you’d expect the Republicans to have the same reaction. No, actually, you wouldn’t, because, of course, it’s not the same thing. (According to the IOKIYAR manual, it never is, even when it is.)
There’s a big difference between dying quickly and dying sooner. For one thing, according to Sen. Coburn’s spokesman, what Rep. Grayson did was a stunt with charts and props, and Sen. Coburn is a real doctor. That’s the difference.
