An obvious follow-up to yesterday’s rather Scrooge-like poser:
What Christmas commercial do you like the most?
This goes back a long time, perhaps twenty years or so, and I can’t remember where I was when I saw it. The scene is Bethlehem at night with the star overhead, and in the distance you see the three wise men approaching, backed up by appropriately reverential music. As they get closer to the stable where the whole Nativity scene is laid out, the music builds to the climax… until someone runs out of the stable and announces excitedly, “It’s a girl!” The music comes to a screeching halt, the Three Kings look at each other as if to say “WTF?”, then turn around and head for a local tavern. The tag line was something like, “You can find the unexpected at _____________.” I thought I would die laughing. I only saw it once, but I never forgot it.
