I filled up for the first time in three weeks today and got a bit of a price jolt: I paid $2.82 at the Mobil station on the corner of US 1 and SW 152nd Street in Pinecrest. (My usual place was closed.) My last fill-up was for $2.57 a gallon.
According to the Lundberg letter, the average price is $2.74 for regular. Reports are that the demand for oil is up in China and there were more attacks on Nigerian oil facilities which explains the 14-cent hike in the last two weeks. I expect the cold weather will cause yet another bump in oil prices, too. It usually does even though we often have winter in the Northern Hemisphere this time of year. It’s not like they can’t plan ahead.
