I have never really been interested in the kind of information that comes out of behind-the-scenes books like the one that is being peddled now by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin (the link is provided for the curious). They get the attention for a little while and provide juicy gossip about people we’ve never met and probably never will. It’s not a whole lot different than the National Enquirer.

I suspect that most of the sales of the books will be to the people who worked in the 2008 presidential campaign. They will immediately head to the index to see if they are mentioned in the book and update their Facebook page accordingly.
